It was an important educational influence through the 1930's as an elementary school and was acquired by the Floyd County Historical Preservation Trust in 2003.<br /><br />The<a href="http://www.floydhistory.org/"> </a><a href="http://www.floydhistory.org/">Floyd County Historical Preservation Trust</a> , with assistance from the Town of Floyd and the Bob Shelor Memorial Fund, is working on the restoration of the old school building. The Trust received a small VA 2006 General Assembly Preservation matching funds grant to stabilize the building.
