Carriage House

The old carriage house behind the Blackwater Loft will be getting a restoration.

Oxford Academy

The Oxford Academy was built in 1901 by the Reverend John Kellogg Harris after an 1898 fire destroyed the previous log school. It was an important educational influence through the 1930's as an elementary school and was acquired by the Floyd County Historical Preservation Trust in 2003.

The Floyd County Historical Preservation Trust , with assistance from the Town of Floyd and the Bob Shelor Memorial Fund, is working on the restoration of the old school building. The Trust received a small VA 2006 General Assembly Preservation matching funds grant to stabilize the building. The Trust has an "adopt a window" program to assist Phill Woddail with his historic window restoration work.

Jacksonville Cemetery

The Old Jacksonville Cemetery needs some work. Plans are to clean it up, restore the stones and build a nice walkway and decorative fence around it.
